MG&L FAQ's

Is MG&L's Gunsmith formally trained and educated?

YES!  This is not an option for MG&L and for you!  The foremost essential concern when handling, repairing and building small arms is safety.  If for no other reason (although there are many), safety makes credentials essential! Knowing an established gunsmith school, manufacturer or other validated organization within the firearms industry acknowledges the safe way in which your gunsmith maintains your firearm should give you the confidence to know it will function the way it is intended.

Experience, Education & Certifications

  • 23-year USMC Ret.
  • Graduate of the Pennsylvania Gunsmith School
  • Honor student of the Master Gunsmithing program
  • Armorer certified for the AR-15 platform, Glock and Smith & Wesson
  • Certified in Firearms Appraisal

What type of firearms does MG&L work on?

It may be easier to identify what we do NOT work on:

  • No AOW's
  • No 80% builds
  • No Class III / NFA guns

I purchased a firearm on the web, can I have it sent to MG&L for transfer?

Yes, MG&L is licensed to purchase, sell and transfer firearms.  Please contact us so we can send a copy of our FFL to the shipping dealer and to arrange for receipt of the firearm.  The transfer / PICS background check fee for this service is $35.

How long will it take for my firearm to be repaired?

MG&L WILL NOT rush repairs, and we do our best to complete work in the order it arrives.  Please be aware that parts for older and obsolete guns can take time to find as many are no longer manufactured.  A timeline for in depth repairs, restorations and custom builds can be discussed during your visit based on the condition of your firearm and MG&L's workload at that time.

When should I bring my firearm in to be repaired?

Great question!  Pennsylvania hunting season is a busy time for MG&L.  If you want to be sure your gun is serviced and returned to you prior to season start, you should plan to use the early summer months wisely.  April through August are often overlooked when preparing for the years hunt.  These are ideal months to bring your firearm in for servicing.
